CHARLESTON -- Harrison Jackson, 84, of Charleston died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born April 8, 1915, in the state of Mississippi, son of the Rev. James Melchal and Alice Jackson. He and Mary Elizabeth White were married Feb. 25, 1942, in New Madrid.
Jackson retired as a crane operator with U.S.S. Steel. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and had served as deacon and treasurer.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jimmy and Ray Jackson of Kankakee, Ill., James and Harrison Jackson Jr. of Charleston; five daughters, Doris Starks and Harriett "Bonnie" Jackson of Charleston, Bettye Shaw, Mary Clay and Joann Kendall of Aurora, Ill.; a brother, Henry Jackson of Blytheville, Ark.; a sister, Ella Westly of Blytheville; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Opportunity Church of God in Christ. Elder Steve Betts and the Rev. Lavern Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
