Harrel Crump

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Harrel L. Crump, 95, of Chaffee passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Chaffee to the late Ernest Kirby and Ida Mae Williams Crump. He married Magdalen Mary Dumey on Sept. 26, 1942, and she preceded him in death Sept. 20, 1992.

Harrel was a retired supervisor for Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee for over 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chaffee. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Chaffee and the Semo Beagle Club. Harrel served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include one son, Danny (Carla) Crump of Scott City; three daughters, Janet (Kurt) Gripentrog of Port Orange, Florida, Nancy (Rick) LaVallee of Orlando, Florida, and Gail Amick of Chaffee; six grandchildren, Lisa Anderson, Donald LaVallee, Daniel LaVallee, Scott Cruce, Lance Amick and Lindsey Dirnberger; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Union Park Cemetery with full military honors.
