Harold M. Schmitt, who would have turned 90 April 25, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

Schmitt was retired from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

He was born April 25, 1920, in Barnhart, Mo., to William H. and Mathilda Oberfeld Schmitt.

Survivors include Robbie, his wife of 63 years; three daughters, Marilyn Fritzler (Steve) of Cape Girardeau, Karen LaFont (John) of Brookport, Ill., Jane Mysock (Ed) of Tulsa, Okla.; a son, Hal (Vicki) of Bowling Green, Ky.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, and a half brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park with military rites conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.

Memorials are requested to American Cancer Society or Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
