Harold L. Woods, 75, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1993, at Missouri Veteran's Home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1918, at Portland, Ark., son of John L. and Willie Howell Woods. On Dec. 22, 1950, he married Bruce Ellen O'Quinn.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and member of the administrative board. He also was a member of Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club, Phi Delta Kappa honorary fraternity, and Parent-Teachers Organization in Tyler, Texas.
He was a retired teacher and school administrator, who in 1967 founded the Migrant Children's Center affiliated with Southeast Missouri State University. He also was a school adminitrator in Gallup, N.M., Tyler, San Diego County, Calif., Dermott and Earle, Ark., and Wolf Lake, Ill. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the North African campaign.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bruce L. Woods of Apex, N.C., R. Jeffrey Woods of Jefferson City; two sisters, Lola Mae Jackson of Hamburg, Ark., Marie White of Fountain Hill, Ark., and two grandsons.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Centenary United Methodist Church. The Rev. Neil Stein and the Rev. Jimmie Dace will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Crittenden County Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Ark.
