Harley W. McAdoo, 93, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Mount Vernon, Ill., son of the late Carroll and Mary Jane Mathews McAdoo. He and Mabel Metzger Newton were married Oct. 21, 1939. She passed away April 2, 1994.
Harley served in the U.S. Army Air Force, inducted at Great Lakes, Ill., in March 1945. He was honorably discharged from service at Fort Sheridan, Ill., in August 1946.
He worked many years as a bookkeeper and production control for the Barber Greene Co., a large industrial paving equipment manufacturer.
Harley was a 50-year member of Jackson Lodge 53 of Shelbyville, Ill.
Survivors include two sons, Richard W. (Carol) McAdoo of Merritt, N.C., Dennis R. McAdoo of Sycamore, Ill.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald; six brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
