H.A. Wachter, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home with his family by his side. H.A. Wachter, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 24, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born March 8, 1932, in Cape Girardeau to the late Hugo August and Lydia Ida Wessel Wachter.

H.A. served in the U.S. Navy. He was a local loan officer for many years and most recently worked for Bank of America. He also worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was an avid golfer and enjoyed meeting with his buddies for coffee.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Smith Wachter of Cape Girardeau; four children, Timothy Ray Wachter (fiancee Donna), Tab Michael (Robin) Wachter, Tamara Ann (James) Martin and Tina Marie Perdue; five grandchildren, April (Brian) Malony, Nikia (Eric) Langston, Michael (Jessica) Martin, Missy (Damien) Davis and Theresa (Dustin) Hanners; seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delmar and Bob.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
