SIKESTON -- H. Herb Stephens, 66, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born March 21, 1929, in Pocahontas, Ark., son of Benjamin and Della Jones Stephens. He and Doris Holyfield were married Sept. 28, 1946, in Sikeston.
Stephens owned and operated Stephens Better Value Grocery Store 20 years. He was a real estate developer and broker and had owned Herb Stephens Real Estate 12 years. He also developed and owned Stephens Winter Resort in Okeechobee, Fla., 18 years.
He was a member of Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF&AM, and former member of Southeast Missouri Shrine Club. He was a member of Community Christian Church in Okeechobee, and attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Darlene Ballard of Sikeston; a brother, David Stephens of Booneville; five sisters, Anna Prince of Branson, Mable Stephens of Pontiac, Mich., Esther Williams of Sikeston, Effreda Payne of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Rose Williams of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
