Gwendolyn P. Schild, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Flat River, Missouri, to H. Clay and Retta P. Gale Thomasson. She was married to Ralph H. Schild on June 13, 1942.
Gwendolyn was a dedicated and gifted career educator, having taught second grade at Jefferson School 22 years, from which she retired in 1985. After retirement, she was a committed, loyal volunteer throughout the Cape Girardeau community and her church, Grace United Methodist.
Survivors include three loving children, Ralph H. (Susan) Schild Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, Thomas G. (Linda) Schild of Cape Girardeau and Rebecca K. (Gary) Vosburgh of Kimberling City, Missouri; special grandchildren, Retta Schild, Rebecca (Chad) Burton, Torrye (Doug) Kampen, Geoff (Brenna) Cardin, Stephanie (Jason) Miller and Laura (Matthew) Louzensky; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, as well as one hour prior to the funeral.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or Lutheran Home Hospice.
