MORLEY -- Gwen Marie McDonough, 75, of Morley died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of William and Effie Huffman Wray. She married Walton McDonough on Aug. 16, 1942, in Morley, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1986.
She was a Cape Central High School graduate, attended Southeast Missouri State University and taught Sunday school for 37 years. She was a caseworker and child welfare worker for Missouri Division of Welfare in Scott County, and also worked as a deputy juvenile officer for Scott and Mississippi counties until her retirement.
She is survived by a son, Ranney W. McDonough of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Kay Perry of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Morley with the Rev. Marvin Butrum and the Rev. Dennis Cebulak officiating. Burial will be in Old Morley Cemetery.
