John Grover St. Clair Jr., 93, of Scott City died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Fornfelt, to John Grover and Pearl Ennis St. Clair Sr. He married Dorothy Laureen Leible on Nov. 6, 1954, in Kelso, Missouri. She preceded him in death Dec. 28, 2004.
Grover was an engineer with Cotton Belt Railroad and a former mayor of Illmo. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, charter member of VFW Post 6407 and Knights of Columbus Council 6420.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Sue (Mike) Sweeney and Kathy (Scott) Wright of St. Charles, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Kientz of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Betty Amick of Scott City; four grandchildren, Sara, Matt, Mikey and Jamie; and a great-grandchild, Amelia.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie St. Clair; a brother; and a sister.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at St. Joseph Church.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Missouri Veterans Home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
