Grover Cleveland Corbin Jr., 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Greenbrier, Mo., son of Grover Cleveland and Ruth Bleckledge Corbin Sr. He and Mary Ann Corbin were married Dec. 5, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She died Jan. 9, 1995...

Grover Cleveland Corbin Jr., 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at his home.

He was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Greenbrier, Mo., son of Grover Cleveland and Ruth Bleckledge Corbin Sr. He and Mary Ann Corbin were married Dec. 5, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She died Jan. 9, 1995.

Corbin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and its Bible Study group, the Elks Lodge, VFW Post 3838, former member of Cape Girardeau Jaycees, and was a Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Corbin of Bitner, N.C., Cameron Corbin of St. Louis, Scott Corbin of Imperial, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy Frayser of Lexington Park, Md., Christi Corbin of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, the Rev. James Corbin of Jackson, Donald Corbin of St. Louis; three sisters, Wanda Carlew and Wyvonne Croy of Advance, Mo., Evelyn Fischer of St. Louis; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 7 tonight at the funeral home, with the Revs. Scott Moon and Jimmy Corbin officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cape County Memorial Park, with military honors provided by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honor Team.
