OAK RIDGE -- Gracie V. Newell, 65, of Oak Ridge died Sunday, March 3, 1996, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 2, 1930, in Cape Girardeau County to George Washington and Mary Lape Bowers. She married Robert Lee Newell Oct. 17, 1946.
She was a homemaker and retired as a Pentecostal preacher for Jesus Name Tabernacle Church in Jackson in September 1995.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, David Newell of Thebes, Ill., and Mark Newell of Scott City; one daughter, Brenda Davis of Anniston, Ala.; three sisters, Helen Mayberry of Jackson, Virginia Mayberry of Twin Lakes, Mich., and Juanita Blakenship of Bridgeton; three brothers, Jack Bowers of Jackson and Paul Bowers and G.W. Bowers, both of Topeka, Kan.; and five granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and two brothers.
Visitation is today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Delbert Mueller officiating and the Rev. Faye Bumpas and Sister Bertha Newell assisting.
Burial will be in Caney Fork Cemetery near Millersville.
