Grace G. Casey, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at her home.
She was born Dec. 6, 1913, in Cedar Rapids, Neb., daughter of Thomas and Tellie Kush Nowak. She and Harry Casey were married Aug. 24, 1940, in Stapleton, Neb. He died Feb. 17, 1993.
Mrs. Casey was an excellent seamstress and quilter. She loved to travel with her family and her suitcase was always packed and ready for any new adventure. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Mary's Sodality and St. Mary's Quilters. She was a past member of Home Extension Club in Hendrickson, Mo., and Church Women United.
Her greatest gift to her family was the love she gave everyone- -- deeply, truly and forever.
She is survived by a son, John Casey of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mary Giedinghagen and Alan Ritter of St. Louis, Rose and Ronald Bauer of Pensacola, Fla.; six grandchildren, Pam Kiser of Bonne Terre, Mo., Dawn Hohlenkamp of Albany, N.Y., Jeff Casey of Cape Girardeau, Michael Giedinghagen of St. Louis, Alexis Hobbs of St. Louis, Ronnie Bauer of Pensacola; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Schmidt; a daughter-in-law, SanDee Casey; four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
