TAMMS, Ill. -- Goldie Cain, 91, of South Elgin, formerly of Tamms, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at the home of a son in Elgin.

She was born Dec. 7, 1907, in Mt. Vernon, daughter of James W. and Evalena Smith Butler. She married Jerry M. Cain, who died in 1947.

Cain was retired from Elgin Mental Health Center. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Alexander County.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Chester of South Elgin; three sons, Orley Cain of Elgin, Jerry Cain of Aurora, Mo., Carl Cain of Silver Creek, N.Y.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, six brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 6-9 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Timothy Wills will officiate. Burial will be in McCrite Cemetery.
