Gloria Jean Steger, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at Chaffee (Missouri) Nursing Center.
She was born May 28, 1942, in Arbor to James Leroy and Opal Griffith Hurt. She and LeRoy R. Steger were married July 22, 1960, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 2021.
She was owner/operator with her husband of Steger Upholstery for more than 20 years. After retiring from the upholstery business, she was a people greeter at Walmart Supercenter for several years.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne (Victor) Phillips of Scott City; son, Kevin (Carolyn) Steger of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Shaun (Nicole) Steger, Erica (Jacob) Douglas, Christopher Phillips and Heather Phillips; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Don (Marian) Hurt and Frank (Jody) Hurt, both of Jackson, and Keith Hurt of Fruitland; and sister, Brenda Baker of Cape Girardeau,.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
