Glenn Alfred Whitledge, 88, of Jackson died Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Jackson Manor in Jackson.
He was born Sept. 16, 1918, on the family farm near Pocahontas, son of Lloyd Leslie and Flora Belle Booth Whitledge. He and Wilma R. McDowell Whitledge were married Sept. 1937.
Whitledge graduated from Fruitland High School. He operated a dairy farm until 1976 and then went into the beef cattle industry. Whitledge helped build the Fruitland Methodist Church where he was a member. He was a member of the Jackson School board before reorganizing to the R-2 school system and a member of the sheriff's patrol and civil defense for several years in Cape Girardeau County.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of Jackson; two sons, Lloyd Whitledge of Jackson, Gary Whitledge of Shawneetown; a daughter, Nancy Schuette of Pocahontas; a brother, James Whitledge of Ojai, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Shari Elfrink, Kriston Knast, Dina Holland, Kara Whitledge, Amy Gammon, Dr. Joshua Whitledge, Donna Turner, Debra Borcherding, Donald Shuette, Jr., Dana Schuette; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.
Funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Revs. Johnny Seabaugh and Kenneth Harper will officiate.
Burial is at Apple Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in Pocahontas, Mo.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial offerings be made to Apple Creek Presbyterian Memorial Association.
