JONESBORO, Ill. -- Glenn Ury, 98, of Jonesboro died Sunday, March 5, 1995, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born May 2, 1896, in Jonesboro, the son of Sidney and Alice Rinehart Ury. On Sept. 6, 1914, he married Ruth Lyerly in Murphysboro. She preceded him in death Jan. 19, 1962. He later married Clara Miller in Jonesboro in 1963, and she also preceded him in death.
Ury was a retired farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau and a member of the Lake Milligan Baptist Church in Miller City.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Mattheis of Anna; two sons, Joe Ury of Jonesboro and Roy Ury of Jackson, Mo.; a stepson, Tom Miller of Pinckneyville; three stepdaughters, Jerrie Phillips of Sessor, Nedra Lacy of Pinckneyville and Carolyn Cook of Liberty, N.Y.; a sister, Blanch Mayr of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Hileman & Parr Funeral Services in Jonesboro, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Phil Nelson will officiate, and burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
