PADUCAH, Ky. -- Glenda Catherin Estes Wilson, 90, of Paducah died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at 8:50 a.m., with her family.
She was a resident of Culpepper Place Assisted Living. Mrs. Wilson attended Will Mayfield Baptist College in MarbIe Hill, Mo., and nurses training at Morningside Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., before she married.
She was co-founder of a family-owned automotive parts distribution business. She taught Sunday school for 32 years at First Baptist Church in Paducah, where she was an active member. She continued to teach Bible classes after she was unable to attend church. She considered her greatest achievement studying and teaching the Bible. She supported many charities and churches in the area.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by a daughter, Dr. Karen Dodson and her husband, Maury Dodson, of Grand Rivers, Ky.; a son, James Bradley Wilson and his wife, Nancy Wilson, of Fruitland; three granddaughters, Tracey Dodson Buchanan of Paducah, Anne Wilson of Salem, Va., and Mary Pautler of Kerrville, Texas; and two grandsons, Dr. Jim Dodson of Bend, Ore., and Dr. James B. Wilson of Windermere, Fla. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Myrtle Hughes Estes and Willis Gay Estes; two brothers, Peter G. Estes and Leonard H. Estes; and a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Dodson.
A private graveside service for family members will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to your favorite church.
