NIXA, Mo. -- Glenda Ruth Sandgren, 88, of Nixa, formerly of Southeast Missouri, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, after a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 6, 1921, at Morley, Mo., daughter of Arthur and Amanda McDonough Eachus. She and Eric Sandgren were married Nov. 28, 1959. He died in 1997.
Ruth served her country in the Women's Air Corps during World War II.
She moved to the Nixa area in 1985 and was a member of North Nixa Baptist Church. She loved to travel, play violin and piano, sing and especially loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Kris Sandgren and wife Dorothy of Nixa, Lars Sandgren of Kirkland, Wash.; a daughter, Irene Sandgren of St. Louis; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five siblings, Virginia, Mack, Marilyn, Ione and Jim Bob.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at North Nixa Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Francisco officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Springfield, with full military honors.
Adams Funeral Home in Nixa is in charge of arrangements.
