ALTON, Ill. -- Glen Hinkle, 97, of Alton, formerly of Gipsy, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
He was born July 11, 1918, in Gipsy, the son of Marvin and Flora Fox Hinkle.
Glen was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was also a member of Bright Prospect General Baptist Church.
Glen and Sadie Myers were united in marriage Jan. 21, 1942, at Marble Hill, Missouri, and she preceded him in death Sept. 17, 2006.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Hinkle of Alton, Mary Lou Summers of Cape Girardeau and Sue Hinkle of Alton; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be at Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.
