Glen Alfred Foster, 84, of Jackson died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1913, at Cape Girardeau, son of Frank P. and Martha McQueen Foster.
He married Lena Mabuce on Aug. 14, 1937, at Kansas City.
He grew up in Cape Girardeau and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1931.
He started working for the F.W. Woolworth Co. when he was 13 years old. At age 21, he took a job with Woolworth in Kansas City.
Later, he worked for the Independent Packing Co. in St. Louis and Charleston, W.Va.
In 1938, he went to work for General Electric Co. During World War II, he worked at Wright Field and was in the procurement office for the U.S. Air Force.
He worked for a short time for the Frisco Railroad. After the war, he went back to General Electric, where he was a sales counselor for major appliances to franchised dealers in Missouri and Illinois. He retired in 1978.
Survivors include his wife of Jackson; three sons, Glen Foster Jr. of Terre Haute, Ind., James Foster of Marshfield, and Paul Foster of Lee's Summit; a brother, Norbert Foster of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Harriet Freeman and Martha Lou McGinty of Cape Girardeau, and Margaret Roberts of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
The Rev. John Owen will officiate, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
