JONESBORO, Ill. -- Gladys Marie Newton Perkins, 94, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.
She was born April 26, 1904, in Gale, daughter of Harvey and Lou Gehring Garrett. She and William Ernest Newton were married in 1923. He died in 1962. She later married James Perkins in 1966, who died later that year.
Perkins was a member of Jonesboro Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, William Newton of Rochelle, James Newton of Anna, Earnest Newton of Edwardsville, Donald Newton of Springfield; two daughters, Doris Hayes of Jonesboro, Shirley Jones of Goreville; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 5-9 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald Null officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
