MCCLURE, Ill. -- Funeral service for Gladys Marie Matlock, McClure Route 1, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Revs. Raymond Oxford and Bill Whitener will officiate, with burial in Lindsey Cemetery.
Matlock, 87, died Sunday, April 28, 1996, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 19, 1908, in McClure, daughter of Eugene and Laura Ellen Lawrence Kaufman. She and Rollie Matlock were married May 13, 1928, in Jonesboro. He died Nov. 22, 1993.
Matlock was a cook 17 years for Houston Barge Lines and Mid America Barge Lines, and had been a cook at various restaurants in the Cape Girardeau area. She was a member of East Cape Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Rollie S. and William Matlock of McClure; a daughter, Alice Kerr of Bastrop, Texas; 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and three sisters.
