CLINES ISLAND, Mo. -- Gladys Ridge Dowdy, 90, died Monday, June 19, 2000. She was born Sept. 30, 1909, at Clines Island, daughter of Sophia Kelly Avery. She first married Bonnie A. Ridge, who died in May 1945. She later married David Dowdy, who died in September 1962...

CLINES ISLAND, Mo. -- Gladys Ridge Dowdy, 90, died Monday, June 19, 2000.

She was born Sept. 30, 1909, at Clines Island, daughter of Sophia Kelly Avery. She first married Bonnie A. Ridge, who died in May 1945. She later married David Dowdy, who died in September 1962.

Survivors include three sisters, Susie Smith and Nellie Thurman of Gravois Mills, Mary Bizzell of Whitewater; a brother, Ira Avery of Whitewater; and a niece, Rosalyn Coffey and family of St. Charles, with whom she lived for many years.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
