Gladys Myrtle Cox, 90, of Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Lutheran Home. She was born July 20, 1927, at Arbor, the daughter of Lloyd and Myrtle Cox. Gladys first worked as a teacher at Oak Valley for one year, followed by a year at the school in Advance, Missouri. Gladys Myrtle Cox, 90, of Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born July 20, 1927, at Arbor, the daughter of Lloyd and Myrtle Cox.

Gladys first worked as a teacher at Oak Valley for one year, followed by a year at the school in Advance, Missouri. She was then married to Leonard Sachse for 13 years and resided in Cape Girardeau.

In 1960, Gladys moved to St. Louis and worked as an insurance underwriter and managed a doctor's office until retirement. She then resided in Centralia, Missouri, for 23 years until 2016, when she returned to Cape Girardeau.

Before her death, Gladys was the only surviving charter member of the Arbor Baptist Church. She was later a member of the United Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, followed by Centralia United Methodist Church.

Gladys will always be remembered for her adventures in traveling, outstanding cooking and baking skills, love for the holidays and appreciation for beautiful collections. Most of all she will be remembered for her love of family and faith.

Loving survivors include a brother, Glen (Sunda) Cox of Chaffee, Missouri; 13 nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Lanson and Charles Cox; and three sisters, Jewell Cox, Helen Musgraves and Pauline Bullinger.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Dace officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Arbor Baptist Church.
