Gladys Germaine Chambers was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Grundy, Virginia, and entered heaven's gates Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at 75 years old. She was the daughter of Carl and Clementine "Clem" Chambers.
After the death of her brother, Dewey, she took on the hardest and most rewarding role of her life. She became "Mom" to three young and very active children.
She then became a nurse and worked for the Chaffee (Missouri) School District for 30 years. She also worked at the Chaffee Hospital until it closed, and then for Life Care. She finished her years of service at SADI in Cape Girardeau.
Gladys is survived by two of her children, Nancy Dement of Chaffee and Mary Ann (Daryl) Wyatt of Kennett, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Mary Chambers of Chaffee; brother, Thurman (Pat) Chambers of Brooksville, Florida; nine grandchildren, Jimmy Chambers, Nikki (Marcus) LeGrand, John (Miranda Ruedrick) Chambers, Daniel Dement Jr., Andy Dement, Tabetha Dement, Jose Daniel Villatoro Jr., Wanda (Jonathan) Payne and Cory (Elizabeth) Wyatt; seven great-grandchildren, Noah Blanchfield, Shawn Dement, Michael Goggins Jr., Caleb Cobb, Avery Payne, Jon Wyatt Payne and Carter Wyatt.
Apart from her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jim Chambers; six brothers and two sisters.
There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee, with the Rev. Randy Conn officiating,
