SIKESTON -- Gladys A. Lewis, 86, of Sikeston died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995, at Clearview Nursing Center following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 10, 1909, in New Madrid, daughter of Ross Lee and Mettie Lee Hanniphan Schultz. On June 16, 1929, she married Lester R. Lewis in Charleston. He preceded her in death March 29, 1990.
She was a homemaker and for 35 years served as a Gray Lady volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. In 1975, she received the harvest award from the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce for her volunteer services to the community.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Lewis Bohannon of Sikeston, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and a sister.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston and from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dempster Memorial Chapel, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate, and burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
