Gilbert E. Robinson, 80, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Dresden, Ohio, son of Clinton E. and Ethel M. Booth Robinson. He and Della Farrow were married June 30, 1978. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served on the USS Oglethorpe and the USS Pollux and was honorably discharged in 1947...

Gilbert E. Robinson, 80, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at his home.

He was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Dresden, Ohio, son of Clinton E. and Ethel M. Booth Robinson. He and Della Farrow were married June 30, 1978.

He was inducted into the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served on the USS Oglethorpe and the USS Pollux and was honorably discharged in 1947.

Gilbert was a pressman 38 years at the Southeast Missourian newspaper, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Gir-ardeau.

Loving survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Johnson of Spring, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jani Robinson of Cairo, Ill.; a sister, Ellen Prouty of Dresden, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kevin (Suzanne) Robinson, Laurinda (Scott) Marshall, Kimberly (Lincoln) Zmolek, Kristina (Julian Pawlowski) Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Kraig and Kass Robinson, Kayla Squires, Sarah Marshall, Jesse and Kyleigh Pawlowski.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Robinson; a son, Terry Robinson; a son-in-law, Wayne Johnson; two brothers, George and Delbert Robinson; and a sister, Doris Jones.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hackney officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Egypt Mills with graveside military honors.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hanover Lutheran Church.
