Gifford E. Hobeck, 64, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he had been a patient the last three weeks. Friends may call Wednesday, July 9, between 4 to 8 p.m., at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson...

Gifford E. Hobeck, 64, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he had been a patient the last three weeks.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 9, between 4 to 8 p.m., at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 10, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in New Salem Cemetery in Daisy. The Rev. Johnny Seabaugh will officiate.

Gifford was born June 21, 1939, son of Elmer and Retta Barks Hobeck. He and Ruth Ann Slinkard were married Feb. 11, 1961. She survives.

Other loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Gina Hobeck of Millersville and Mark and Tina Hobeck of Jackson; one daughter, Jenny Hobeck of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Brandy Harrison and Lindsey Hobeck, and Spencer, Ashley and Mackenzie Hobeck; three great-grandchildren, Colten and Corey Harrison and Tyson Williams; a brother, Floyd Hobeck and wife Goldie of Daisy; and two sisters-in-law, Verna Hobeck of Daisy and Inez Hobeck of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Milford and Elmer Lee Hobeck.

Gifford formerly worked at Lincoln McBride and previously co-owned H&T Builders in Jackson. The past 20 years, he co-owned and operated Hobeck Siding Company with his sons. He attended Good News Christian Center in Jackson and was a member of Cape County Coon Hunters Club.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the family.
