GERTRUDE SHIELDS

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Gertrude Grace Shields, 95, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at City Care Center in Anna, Ill.

She was born in 1906 in Chicago, daughter of Thomas and Margaret Knox Gifford. She and Roy William Shields were married in 1929. He died in 1984.

Shields was a graduate of the University of Illinois. She was past president of South Town Woman's Club, member of Beverly Hills University Club, Douglas Garden Club and Douglas Community Church in Douglas, Mich.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Prieb of Jonesboro; a granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a brother and a great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Douglas. Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery.
