SIKESTON -- Gertie Pauline "Penny" Ross, 66, of Sikeston died Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1930, in Essex to James E. and Gertie M. Holt Babb. On July 4, 1947, in Osceola, Ark., she married Roy E. Ross. He died Sept. 22, 1977.
Ross had worked as a restaurant waitress. She was a personal care giver for the past seven years and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Edward Ross of Sikeston; a daughter, Debby Burch of Sikeston; two sisters, Stellene Carroll of Sikeston and Erma Manion of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Bluff Cemetery in Idalia.
