Geraldine Seabaugh

Geraldine Esther Seabaugh, 90, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born June 13, 1930, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Henry and Lena Seabaugh Maintz. She and Leroy Edward Seabaugh were married Aug. 29, 1953, in Jackson. He passed away March 29, 2016, after nearly 63 years of marriage.

Geraldine was a 1948 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. In 1953 she and Leroy moved to Jackson, where she worked from home babysitting, ironing and doing small alterations. Geraldine later worked for Litz Poultry Plant and, after it closed, she worked for the Jackson Handle Factory. In 1989 Geraldine and Leroy started and operated their own lawn care business until their age slowed them.

Both she and Leroy took great pride in their garden every year. If there was ever work to be done, they were right there to assist! Her love for cooking and baking is going to be missed by all, but her pumpkin pie especially will be missed by her son, Garry, who was known to eat a whole pie in one sitting. Her granddaughter, Ashley, will cherish the memories of standing on a kitchen chair making rivels for potato soup.

Loving survivors include a son, Garry (Gail) Seabaugh; two grandchildren, Ashley (Rodney) Sebaugh and Jeremy (Sarah) Seabaugh; five great-grandchildren, Ashlynn and Henry Sebaugh and Jase, Ella and Cora Seabaugh, all of Jackson; and three bonus great-grandchildren Grace, Kate and Claire Sebaugh.

Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy (Truman) Horn of Jackson and Rose (John) Moneyhun of Whitewater; sister-in-law Geneva Ruessler of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces, nephews and close friends who are more like family than friends.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Hoover Maintz, and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Vaught officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Crown Hospice or Connection Point Church.
