CAIRO, Ill. -- Geraldine Houston, 85, of Cairo died Friday, March 19, 2004, at Daystar Care Center.

She was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Miller City, Ill., daughter of Aaron and Ida Mae Hayes Dawson. She married John Houston, who died in 1979.

Houston was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Charles and David Houston of Detroit, Mich., Ronald Houston of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four daughters, Dorothy Houston of Carbondale, Ill., Wilma Carter of Cairo, Delores Houston of Atlanta, Ga., Helen Agbonifo of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sons, a daughter, two grandsons, and 20 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and at 12th Street Baptist Church from 11 a.m. Saturday until time of service.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
