SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Gerald R. Presley of Sikeston will be held at 1 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. George Alsup will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to service time.

Presley, 71, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1992, at Baptist Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.

He was born July 26, 1921, in Piggott, Ark., son of George R. and Bodie Bledsoe Presley. He and Emily Waltrip were married Dec. 23, 1939, at Charleston.

Presley was owner/manager of Quick Serve Market, which later became Miner Fruit Market. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Matthews, where he served as pastor five years, and was also pastor of Cape Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Presley of Blytheville, Lanny Presley of Sikeston; a half brother, Mack Carpenter of Granite City, Ill.; three sisters, Delorme Billington and Betty Mosier of Sikeston, Lavonne Cantrell of Florissant; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
