DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral for Gerald Lionel James of Dexter will be held at 10 a.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter. The Revs. Bob Wiggins and Marshall Link will officiate. Burial will be in Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
James, 66, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Guys, Tenn., son of Jesse Benton and Birdie Mae Osborne James. He and Mary Maxine Turner were married May 1, 1954, in Hernando, Miss.
James owned a commercial janitorial service.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jesse James of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Janet Grojean of Jackson, Mo., Anita Hartlein of Dexter; mother and stepfather, Birdie and Raymond Price of Dexter; a sister, Shirley McKenzie of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, David Cartwright of Bloomfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father and a stepfather.
