Georgia Marie Howe, 95, of Cape Girardeau died peacefully Sunday, May 14, 2023 at The Arbors at Capetown.
Georgia was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Cape Girardeau to George and Marie Greaser Dannenmueller.
She and Dallas "Gene" Howe were married June 22, 1948, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Aug. 16, 1995.
Georgia was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish, where she was honored in 2009 as a Distinguished Graduate of St. Mary Cathedral School. She was also a former sacristan, strong supporter of Notre Dame Regional High School, former member of the Red Hat Society and longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Georgia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to garden and took pride in creating and making her own Christmas and greeting cards and sharing those with friends, church members and members of the community. She was also an ardent St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Sherrie) Howe of Dallas; daughter, Brenda (Ron) Speidel of Mission, Texas; sister, Annie (Gary) Evans of Cape Girardeau; granddaughters, Laura (Tommy) Gamble of Canton, Georgia, and Lindsey (Brian) Deerfield of Johns Creek, Georgia; great-grandson, Oliver Deerfield; great-granddaughter, Vera Deerfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, William Dannenmueller.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Arbors at Capetown and Legacy Hospice for their kind compassion, care and comfort.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., , with parish prayers at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 21, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 22, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Notre Dame Regional High School, 265 Notre Dame Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
