George Lee Taylor, 74, of Scott City died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 28, 1934, in Wirth, Ark., son of Charlie and Velda Louthan Taylor. He and Betty Hardcastle were married Feb. 5, 1965, in Rockford, Ill. Taylor was a farmer. He worked for the Thayer, Mo., street department many years. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church...

George Lee Taylor, 74, of Scott City died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 28, 1934, in Wirth, Ark., son of Charlie and Velda Louthan Taylor. He and Betty Hardcastle were married Feb. 5, 1965, in Rockford, Ill.

Taylor was a farmer. He worked for the Thayer, Mo., street department many years. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Waymon Taylor of Litchfield, Ill., Bruce Taylor of Scott City; and a sister, Jane Rogers of Pocahontas, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at Rose Hill Baptist Church near Thayer, with Wayne Guffey officiating.

Carter Funeral Home in Thayer is in charge of arrangements.
