ADVANCE, Mo. -- George Stevens, 79, of Advance died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 24, 1921, in St. Louis, the son of John and Dora Stevens.
He first married Nancy Bradshaw in 1945. She died Dec. 7, 1979. He then married Lura Dell Hudson on Feb. 14, 1980, at Advance. She survives.
He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Advance. He was a retired bricklayer and member of Bricklayers Union Local 1 in St. Louis.
He also is survived by a son, Gary Hudson of Advance; two sisters, Pearl Dickens of St. Louis and Dorothy Warner of Chesterfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, a daughter, seven brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the chapel with Brother Wayne Page officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lemay, Mo.
