George E. Miller, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 14, 1915, at Ancell, Mo., son of John and Bertha Ash Miller. He and Mary Moore were married Sept. 20, 1940, at Cape Girardeau.
Miller worked at International Shoe Co. for 20 years and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was an active deacon at the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and taught Sunday school there for 49 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Terry Wayne Miller of Thomaston, Ga., and Lynn Miller of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Vicki McKinney and Jill Halbert, both of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Nettie Fisher and Katherine Koch, both of Scott City; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
