EAST ALTON, Ill. -- George Edwin Lamer, 82, of East Alton, formerly of Cobden, Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at his home.

He was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Cobden, son of Lawrence L. and Lena Angell Lamer. He and Gail Housman were married May 21, 1953, in Anna.

Lamer was a retired accountant for McDonnell-Douglas for more than 35 years, a veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Cobden Masonic Lodge 446.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Lamer of East Alton; a daughter, Kathy Ginther of Caledonia, Wisc.; two sons, Roger Lamer of Columbus, Ohio, and Jonathan Lamer of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Elaine Rude of Springfield, Ill., and Carolyn Stegle of Manteno, Ill.; two brothers, Jack Lamer of Cobden and Tom Lamer of Jerseyville, Ill.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and a daughter.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Sue Ella Rich officiating. Interment will be private.
