PATTON, Mo. -- George Lacy, 90, of Patton passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Stockoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Mo. He was born Jan. 1, 1915, at Talent, Mo., son of George Emanual and Sarah Jane Kitchen Lacy. He and Dorothy Madge Whitener were united in marriage May 17, 1940...

PATTON, Mo. -- George Lacy, 90, of Patton passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Stockoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Mo.

He was born Jan. 1, 1915, at Talent, Mo., son of George Emanual and Sarah Jane Kitchen Lacy. He and Dorothy Madge Whitener were united in marriage May 17, 1940.

Mr. Lacy was a member and was very active in the Liberty Congregational Methodist Church, where he formerly served as Sunday school superintendent.

He served on the Patton and Sedgewickville School Board, served on the University of Missouri Extension Board of Bollinger County, and was a board member of the Calvary Hill Top Congregational Methodist Camp.

Mr. Lacy served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in his early years, then served his country proudly in the Merchant Marine Corps during World War II in Manila.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gail (Rev. Jim) Richardson of Van Buren, Ark., Regina (John) Whitlow of Patton; a sister, Mary Jane Webb of Marquand, Mo.; three grandchildren, Shelly (Clarence) Hosier, Amy (Chad) Pettigrew, Brooks (Veronica) Whitlow; three great-grandchildren, Lacy Hosier, Harrison and Madeline Pettigrew; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents; three brothers, Carl, Harold and Linus; three sisters, Olga Martin, Vera Webb, and an infant, Olive Lacy, preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Wednesday at Liberty Congregational Methodist Church from 9:15 a.m. until time of service.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Revs. Jim Richardson, Kirby Grindstaff, Dwight Presson and Jamie Hovis officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery.
