COBDEN, Ill. -- George L. Peterman, 75, of Carbondale, formerly of Cobden, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at his home. He was born Dec. 18, 1922, at Cobden, son of Louis Edward and Lula Mae Blessing Peterman. He is survived by his wife, Ella B. Baggott Peterman of Carbondale; four sons, Jack Peterman of Carbondale, Mike and Lloyd Peterman, both of Makanda, Wesley Gene Peterman of Cambria; a sister, Geneva Tripp of Herrin; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild...

COBDEN, Ill. -- George L. Peterman, 75, of Carbondale, formerly of Cobden, died Friday, June 26, 1998, at his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1922, at Cobden, son of Louis Edward and Lula Mae Blessing Peterman.

He is survived by his wife, Ella B. Baggott Peterman of Carbondale; four sons, Jack Peterman of Carbondale, Mike and Lloyd Peterman, both of Makanda, Wesley Gene Peterman of Cambria; a sister, Geneva Tripp of Herrin; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A son and four brothers preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Central Railroad.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery at Makanda, with military honors by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
