George W. Grueneberg, 83, of Owosso, Mich., died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Memorial Healthcare Center.
He was born Dec. 14, 1919, in Cape Girardeau, son of George and Emma Haman Grueneberg. He married Lucille Marie Brown, who died in 1985. He and Faith E. Kelly were married July 11, 1986, in Owosso.
Grueneberg received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
He worked for Missouri Utilities in Cape Girardeau, was an electrical engineer six years at Gilbert-Commonwealth in Jackson, Mich., and retired from Consumers Power Co., where he worked 23 years.
Grueneberg was a member of First United Methodist Church in Owosso.
He was a sergeant with the Military Police in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary Grueneberg of Somerset Center, Mich., Mark Grueneberg of St. Johns, Mich.; a sister, Leona Popp of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Phillip Kelly of Belding, Mich., two stepdaughters, Kim Grinnell of Morrice, Mich., and Aletha Jaeger of Alexander, Va.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
A memorial service was held July 25 at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Grant Lobb officiating.
