George Franklin Wills Jr., 76, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 1996, at the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.

He was born June 15, 1919, at Grand Tower, Ill., son of George Franklin and Nellie Schraw Wills. He and Bessie Mae Crites were married June 22, 1946, at Cape Girardeau.

Wills was employed as a truck driver by Cauble and Field produce company. He also worked for the Cape Girardeau Public Schools and the City of Cape Girardeau. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and also was a member of the St. Mark Chapter 167 O.E.S., the order of Amaranth, VFW Post No. 3838, Cape Girardeau Council No. 20 Cryptic Masons, Wilson Chapter No. 75, Cape Girardeau Commandery No. 55, Moolah Temple of St. Louis, the Disabled American Veterans and the Cape Shrine Club.

Survivors include his wife and a brother, Millard Wills of Phenix City, Ala.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg St. Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. S.S. Borum officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery. Military services will be conducted at the gravesite by VFW Post 3838.
