George W. Flowers, 81, of Millersville passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Painton, Mo., son of the late Jake and Addie M. Goff Flowers. He and Wilma Statler were married Aug. 15, 1947 in St. Louis.
George served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
He worked for the former R.B. Potashnick Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau many years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 57 and a lifetime member of VFW and DAV, all in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years; a daughter and her fiancŽ, Synthia Bohnert and David Propst; a son and daughter-in-law, George C. and Nancee Flowers, all of Millersville; four grandchildren, Ashley (Lanny) Chapman, Makenzi Bohnert, Caleb Burton and Jake Flowers; and a sister, Mildred Stephens of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Rogers and Evelyn Welker; and a brother, Eugene Flowers.
Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 PM, at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park with graveside military honors.
