George Collins, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at St. Anthony Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Tiptonville, Tennessee, to William Lloyd and Genevieve Godwin Collins. He and Doris J. Springs were married May 7, 1954, at Bloomfield, Missouri.

He served in the Army.

He worked for Southwestern Bell for more than 30 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his two daughters, Marla (Larry) Cruse of St. Louis and Marsha (Jim) Stewart of Boonville, Missouri; a son, Michael E. (Margie) Collins of St. Louis; a brother, Lowell Collins of Union City, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Matthew Collins, Megan (Gary) Delhougne, Tyler (Jessica) Stewart and Allison Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Charlotte Huffstutter; and a brother, Billy M. Collins.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in Sikeston, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Cape Public School Foundation.
