JACKSON -- George Childers, 63, of Jackson, died Wednesday, July 14, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1930, at Lilbourn, son of Oliver Elwood and Susan Parley Willis Childers. He and Nancy Lambert were married March 29, 1953, at Sikeston.
Childers was formerly owner of Nu-Way Cleaners and Laundry in New Madrid, and was chief operator 14 years at the water treatment plant in Marston. He was a member of Vanduser Church of Christ. Childers served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Andy Childers of Rolla; three daughters, Ami Walton of Jackson; Cissy Young of Minooka, Ill., Penny Coleman of Blodgett; a sister, Naomi Creech of Perryville, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Dan Richardson will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Charles Bowser. Burial will be in Blodgett Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
