MOUND CITY, Ill. -- George W. Bowman, 74, of Mound City died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, from injuries in a fire at his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Trion, Ga., son of Ira and Ruth Boyed Bowman.

Formerly of Arkansas, Bowman was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include four sons, Lester Bowman of Mound City, Johnny Bowman of Beebe, Ark., Billy Bowman of Birmingham, Ala., Ernest Bowman of Cabot, Ark.; a daughter, Patricia Guthrie of Beebe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepsister.

There is no visitation.

A private service will be held in Arkansas.

Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City is in charge of arrangements.
