George Baughman, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Ratliff Care Center. He was born April 6, 1914, in Browntown, Ill., the son of Paul and Sylvia Drake Baughman. George Baughman, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born April 6, 1914, in Browntown, Ill., the son of Paul and Sylvia Drake Baughman.

He married Ethel M. Pulley on Oct. 19, 1936, at Jonesboro, Ill.

He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Boilermakers Local 363 in Belleville, Ill. He had worked as a shipyard welder.

He is survived by his wife of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Jessie Irene Raines of Jackson; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure, Ill.
