SIKESTON, Mo. -- George Ray Alsup, 59, of Sikeston died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 16, 1942, in Sikeston, son of George C. and Annie Johnson Alsup. He and Eleanor Allen were married Jan. 14, 1965, in Sikeston.
Alsup had been a truck driver with Keystone Containers in St. Louis. He was an ordained Baptist minister and was currently associate pastor at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.
Other pastorates include Cave Springs Baptist Church in Sullivan, Mo.; Galliean Missionary Baptist Church in Valley Park, Mo.; and Park View Missionary Baptist Church in Arnold, Mo.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen Alsup of Dexter, Mo., Terry Alsup of Elk Grove, Calif.; his mother of Bridgeton, Mo.; a brother, Jerry Alsup of Troy, Mo.; a sister, Peggy Shultz of Belle, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Church, with the Revs. Cecil Adams and Randy Lemons officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Missouri Honors Program.
